Fashion Cable Knit Bag

I finished this bag more than a month ago...

"Fashin Cable Knit Bag"
Pattern: Fashion Cable Knit Bag from Michaels

I knit this bag with 2 strands of Patons Classic Merino Wool held together so the bag is nice and thick, and it was a quick project.
I'm especially proud of the lining. :D

"Fashion Cable Knit Bag" - Lining

I can't help but to knit this year because I just LOVE traditional knitting, and it seems to be back! :)))
I couldn't resist these Patons booklets when I saw them: Big Chill, Snow Country, Cables.

Does any of you know a good wool yarn that doesn't felt?

If I lived in a state where it snows some, I'd be knitting sweaters... I was still wearing T-shirt today, and it's NOVEMBER! This is just crazy. :(

I have 4 more FOs to post (both knit & crochet projects), but later. ;D

  5. hello,
I start to knit this as well. Can I ask you some problm. does the panel pat means the handle part? I knitted it, the pattern looks like 2X. as for the bag part, how to start with?
    Bag
"With smaller needles and 1 strand of yarn, cast on 79 sts. Beg with a knit row, work 14 rows in stocking st."
and also there's another way by doing with larget needles.1st row: (RS). *Work 1st row of Panel Pat A. **C5F. K3. Rep from * once, then from * to ** once.
so how to do this part???
and does the larger needles means 6.5mm, smaller means 5.5mm?
it would be great favor if you can help me, because I really like this bag. Thank you so much~~~

  6. Hi Ronia,

Follow the direction under "Bag" to knit this bag. - Start with
casting on 79 stitches using 5.5mm needles, and work 14 rows of
    stocking st.
THEN, continue on 1st row but switch the needles to 6.5mm and also
make the yarn 2 strands, then follow the rest of the instruction on
    Bag.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your bag!

  7. can you tell me how to knit with 2 strands,is it like what it suggests,

1.roll each skein into two equal-sized balls

    2. use yarn from both the outside and the inside of the
    skein.

    thank you fo your help.

    Dear Chie,
It's me again. I finally finished the bag. But I found it's smaller than I thought. can I ask you what size i yours except the handles? I thought it could fit a4 size before. so I am thinking to knit 1 more time to makeit bigger now. >_<

I am trying to make this but am stuck on instruction line 2 of panel pat... knit and purl as they show on all alternate rows. Then in the BAG directions they show the rows 2,4,6,8,10 with panel pat and purl 8's. Can you explain? I think I'm missing something

I have been trying to knit this bag, but I'm also having problems with it.
Do you have tips to complete it?
    Thanks!

    Hi!
The bag looks awesome. I've just looked at the pattern. I can understand how to start (using 14 row stocking stitch) but towards the end how do you finish? do you do a 14 row stocking stitch after completing the pattern to fold over the other handle?
    Thanks :)

Love the bag, have been looking for one very similar. The one I saw was selling Estey. Was gorgeous. Made in Europe.
    But I love yours too.
